Project description: Hygrothermal influence of a floor radiant heating system on conservation of artifacts is investigated. During the research a test set-up is used, consisting of a prototype display case and heated floor, containing various dummy-artifacts. By thermally separating artifacts from the floor, possible conservation risks can be eliminated. This can also be achieved by using a lower floor surface temperature or shutting off the floor heating system in exhibition rooms with large floor placed artifacts.

Project description: the prevailing indoor climate is assessed through measuring temperature, relative humidity and humidities near surfaces in the castle. Measurement results are compared with standards for conservation of the building and its historic interior. HAM simulation is used to predict indoor climate conditions when using techniques that will optimize climate conditions for conservation, with minimal impact on its historic authenticity.

Project description: the existing HVAC system is analyzed and indoor climate conditions are assessed through measurements after temperature and relative humidity. Also the building envelope is analyzed using infrared thermography in order to give recommendations on how the indoor climate can be optimized.
