Project description: the goal of this research is to optimize energy use and indoor climate conditions for building, interior, artifacts and visitors. Indoor climate measurements have been performed to qualify hygrothermal performance of building structure and system and to quantify risks for building, interior and artifacts. In addition to climate measurements infrared thermography and computer modeling (HAM/CFD) are used.

Project description: the design of a new heating system. The old direct fired air heating system caused high energy use and poor indoor climate conditions for conservation. The newly designed heating system incorporates a higher energy efficiency, better indoor climate for conservation of building and interior at a higher level of thermal comfort.

Project description: the design of a new church heating system. Before renovation of the interior and renewal of the existing heating system, indoor climate is measured (temperature, Rh, CO2). Analysis of these measurement gave the requirements for the new heating system. The proposed design operates with low thermal stratification, so a more uniform indoor climate is created during heating. This is not only beneficial for energy-use, but also for conservation of the valuable historic interior of this church.
